Hi, I am

Zuza Ritt

I make things with pixels. Preferably moving pixels.

This is really old stuff. The world has changed. Some links might not work, and some things might be completely different now.

Machinima - short films made in virtual worlds

First 3D virtual video?

I made the very first 3D video ever in the Second Life/Opensimulator type of world in 2015.

Skull-á-bande

Once upon a time, there was a picture of the skull on the wall. They said it was the 3D skull. And they were right.

#YourFry

YourFry project challenged people to use technology to develop the stories in Stephen Fry’s autobiographies More Fool Me and The Fry Chronicles in new ways. My interpretation of the YourFry project at the webpage and story description:
Reading a book means to me a new landscape, a new street, a new building, a new person... All of them are in my head. It is my very private cinema, figments of my imagination. It is hard to share them with someone else. But living in the digital era gives me options and tools to try that.
I can share my interpretation in machinima and my dreamscapes in the virtual world.
My project is a virtual place - landscapes, an interior and an avatar used in video. My filming locations are running on OpenSimulator, a multiplatform open-source environment, that can be used to create a virtual world. You can create your own private world at your home computer. You can create a virtual world for your friends or join any publicly accessible OpenSim virtual world and let people use and enjoy your creations.
You can visit my virtual world, walk those sweet landscapes, and become that boy. Or a girl:)

The whole environment was created by me from scratch - trees, landscapes, sweets, an avatar, most of the animations. As well as the story, camera, and editing.

There are no subtitles, but there is a transcript in the file.

Story of the Linden Tree DJ Stage

I created the story and a world of the big linden tree for SL13B, 13th birthday celebration of Second Life.
It took place in the virtual world of Second Life, spread over an area of 256x256 virtual metres, dedicated by the provider of Second Life, the Linden Lab, to the best creators who built those community zones for the biggest event in SL. I built up a landscape with a gigantic tree in the middle, halfed into two parts: one photorealistic landscape and one fantastic otherworldly landscape with never-before-seen plants, powered by pulsing lights. See the main story, the idea of our connection, and the complete 3D environment in my latest SL13B video and a first sneak peak video.

Virtual worlds - past educational projects

Czech for Foreigners

A 3D virtual environment was made for the 3D virtual learning project of the Department of Czech Language and Literature, Faculty of Education, Palacky University in Olomouc, Czech Republic.
I have built a typical Czech town, including a central square with some real Czech historical buildings (Prague astronomical clock, historical buildings in the central square in Český Krumlov, ...) Parts of the town are designed as situations for the very beginners studying the Czech language. They can practice their conversational skills at the hospital, post office, pub, bus terminal, or on the site of the traffic accident.
Log in to the virtual world of Kitely and explore the Czech virtual town.

Other stuff

I made several virtual university campuses for various university workshops and lessons.

As a creator and external lecturer, I helped to make projects that explored the connection between the virtual world and 3D web apps as an innovative educational environment for language studies.

I published about 400 articles as an editor and co-founder of virtual worlds community web and wikipedia for Czech and Slovak users, VirtualWiki, between 2007 and 2016. Some of them are republished now.

I have created a Czech web about the OpenSim virtual world Kitely (formerly Kitely.cz).

I am a creator of landscapes and environments released under the brand 21strom.

My 3D content is available at Kitely Market for all OpenSim virtual worlds and at SL Marketplace for Second Life.
See my 3D model portfolio.

Interview with Steve Lawes by Mary Jo Watts, translated into Czech by me.

Rozhovor se Stevem Lawesem, kameramanem, který natočil 5 z 10 epizod seriálu Sherlock.

Some of my very old free public lectures on various virtual worlds and computer skills in virtual worlds are archived and can be found on Youtube.

Some of the articles about virtual worlds were published as a podcast (Czech only). This podcast is also available at iTunes; for Android, use the FM Player app.
