Comedy, AI and improv

I jumped into the comedy world as an expert on a very niche part of so-called AI, as the one who actually uses generative AI tools for real projects. I was teaching people how to use those tools on my YouTube channel in Czech, and I was already unbearably funny when doing so.
It seems ages ago, because at that time, during my first live comedy showcase, I had to actually explain what ChatGPT is. That's how long ago October 2023 was.

Naturally, I have found the idea of letting AI write your comedy hilarious in 2023 already, nobody would really do it. That would be ridiculous, no matter how great the AI tools are going to be in any future.
Fortunately, I had a lot of comedy going on during 2024. I became a co-producer of Sunday Service Comedy in the very centre of Manchester, and gave myself a lot of time to experiment with different styles, introduced interactive games with the audience, co-created themed comedy nights, and enjoyed a lot of comedy improv. I was also honing my skills as a regular comedy MC.

Performing the improvised live comedy with random audiences while using AI to participate and react was an inevitable development. Nowadays I don't have to explain what chatbots are because everyone is using them.
That is not the only difference.
Just writing the jokes or parts of the comedy routine seems so old, boring and done to death. There are so many convenient tools and so many possibilities, even if all you know is a simple chatbot. No two shows are the same, there is always an element of surprise, creativity, or complete technical failure.

In the near future, the entire industry may move completely online. We all know that. The old routes of progression may already be vanishing.
The world has changed.
I am genuinely enjoying that.
Despite this difficult situation in comedy and other performing arts, I still am enthusiastic about live comedy shows. You can see me live, mostly hosting the weekly Sunday Service and doing comedy around Manchester.
